“Proship” means you don’t believe people should be harassed, threatened or insulted for the fiction and art they create, even if you personally find what they’re making to be gross, upsetting or in some way immoral.

“Proship” means you believe that all fiction and art has a right to exist, and should be available to access for those who want to see it, and available to be blocked and avoided by those who don’t want to see it.

That’s everything proship means.

Ship and let ship.

Don’t like? Don’t read.

Thinking about how small the active self ship/ f/o community is.

If we imagined the current community on the old web, we could easily all be sharing the same busy, active message board, with an irc chat and a dozen mods.

I’m imagining one sub-forum for ask games; each ask game is it’s own thread, and people who want to play all answer the questions in the same thread.

One sub-forum for f/o art. Each user has their own thread to post their art in– mod rule one thread per user, not per f/o! Post as much at as you want, but please only bump for visibility once every 24 hours.

Another sub-forum with similar per-user rules for gushes, and one for imagines. One for self insert fics, and one for x-reader fics.

A chitchat forum where we could talk about our day and play non-f/o related forum games.

If I was really ambitious, i’d say it should have a forum avatar dress up game like gaia online or neopets.

And of course the whole forum would be moderated to be rated pg, with all of the adult/18+ content kept strictly on the hidden 18+ parts of the forum. Maybe even with an extra hidden “dark” area for especially taboo f/o material.

I wish forums were still a thing…

If anyone was particularly good at website building, I know domains are pretty easy to get and I’ve seen a post floating around about a year ago with a link saying people could literally make their own forum-based site pretty readily with a little elbow grease. It’s possible! I just have none money and the brain of a koala.

The hell of it is that I could easily create and run a site like this (maybe minus the gaia avatars) and have run large message board communities in the past.

I just don’t know that anyone would bother using it in this day and age.

πŸ• I’m always really astounded by your level of confidence in fandomβ€”I actually follow you, but I only ever send anons cause severe fear of antis doxxing me.

We’ve lived through the worst of it. We had Something Awful threads and Encyclopedia Dramatica articles, etc, about us back in the day.

We try to treat fancops, harassers and trolls online like we would any real world terrorist or bully.

What these people are trying to do is to use fear to make you back down, to make you disappear, to make you shut up.

We refuse.

We are here. They will not make us go away.

And if us refusing to shut up helps even one person who sees us feel more inspired to be courageous, or even just to feel a little less self loathing at who they are, then we are proud to be here, and it’s all worth it.

sometimes it absolutely blows my mind that there are just subsets of fandom communities that just. do not know. how the pro anti/ship discourse started. like. they just do not know. that it was a ship war. it was just a ship war. pro and anti divisions were just fancy names for a ship war. stop saying proshipper allegations like its some weird crime or something. it very much is not i promise you.

Sometimes the specific way some fancops talk about “proships DNI” exits the realm of sounding like enforcing a social boundary, and enters the realm of sounding like a child on the playground screaming:

“EWWW!! EWW!! COOTIES!! DONT TOUCH ME THEYVE GOT COOTIES!!!”

Compiling a list with all the genshin “problematic” ships’ names because for the love of everything it’s impossible to search for anything tagged “A x B” since Tumblr wil give you anything tagged as “A x” and “x B” and that means ALL THE CHARACTER X READER AND YALL KEEP DOING WHAT YOU LOVE BUT BOY IS IT ANNOYING WHEN YOU’RE LOOKING FOR A SHIP (┛◉Д◉)┛彑┻━┻
