I DONT KNOW… i’ve been playing ponytown on and off for a few years now and istg, i’ve never seen anything like this until i started playing again this year T_T.if you connect your patreon, it lets you show it in-game and like every other person i’ve found has said patreon link to a long-ass dni that is literally just “basic dni + proship / freaks” and its??? so strange – especially since 01, i haven’t seen anyone with ‘antis dni’ linked so i know it’s only antis doing this, and 02, a lot of these people ( imo ) seem to only be making a patreon to specifically say this???it’s just so weird, i don’t understand any of it – i feel like if anyone needs proof of dnis being useless it’s this – i mean, if i wanna talk / roleplay with someone on an online pony game ( w someone i presumably will either never see again, or only see while playing said pony game – ) i am not going to read, or even consider making, a 5 paragraph dni 😭??? srry 4 the rant, im just So Confused by this??

The idea of a DNI in an online multiplayer game is… It’s bonkers to me. It’s unhinged. I’m as confused as you are.

People who put dnis on their posts but only for proshippers make me nervous tbhLike. That’s the one you’re most worried about? Not bigots? Not terfs who are absolutely rampant on this site unfortunately? You know, the two things that used to be on most performative dnis by default? Sure, I don’t think DNIs actually work against anyone who’s truly a problem, but to me it feels so telling that some folks are now not making threats or banners against anything else. It’s a real said the quiet part out loud moment. The quiet part being “I think people who ship stuff I don’t like are worse than actual bigots” or “this message is entirely performative and I don’t actually care about making the world safer for anyone”

Sometimes the specific way some fancops talk about “proships DNI” exits the realm of sounding like enforcing a social boundary, and enters the realm of sounding like a child on the playground screaming:

“EWWW!! EWW!! COOTIES!! DONT TOUCH ME THEYVE GOT COOTIES!!!”

Blocking and reporting users is curating your experience. If somebody else ignores a dni they crossed your boundary. Those are the rules. You have a duty to act against anyone who crosses your boundaries and fucks up your experience. It’s not up to anyone else to determine who poses a danger to you. Report them so they don’t hurt other people.
