Is fictionkin or otherkin only for systems? A lot of the time, I see people refer to it as something restricted for systems, but I see other people refer to it as both for systems and people who arent in systems

Hi anon.

I think you have the terms “fictive” and “fictionkin” confused.

“Fictive” is a systems only term which refers to any system member that shares an identity with a fictional character.

“Fictionkin” is a term that means anyone who believes they are or were somehow, a fictional character. Often this has to do with belief in multiverse reincarnation, or other spiritual beliefs, but not always.

Fictionkin is used primarily, but not exclusively by non-systems, and has a history as a belief system going back to the early 2000s.

Otherkin, the term from which Fictionkin is derived, is also primarily but not exclusively used by non-systems, and like fictionkin, was not created in plurality spaces.

You can read more about fictionkin at fictionkin.org or fromfiction.tumblr.com

😸 Do you have any OCs that are in a cradle ship?

✌ Do you have any self ships that count as cradle ships?

het ship: A ship between a male character and a female character.

OTP: One true pairing. Refers to the shippers prefered ship for the characters involved.

self ship: A ship between a canon character and the shipper themselves, or their self insert OC.

scale ship: A ship involving a significant power imbalance other than the age of the characters

companion ship: A ship between a human character and a nonhuman (generally feral furry) character.

dimmer ship: A ship written in some way to be darker than fandom generally perceives the ship to be.

blackrom ship: A romantic ship between rivals or enemies. Also called foe yay or rival ship. A ship where the characters remain opposed, despite being romantically involved.

E2 ship: Enemies to lovers. A ship that starts off between enemies, and progressively softens until the characters are no longer enemies.

cargo ship: A ship between a character and an inanimate object.

mentor ship: A ship between a character and their mentor figure.

robo ship: A ship between a robot character and a non robot character.

yandere ship: A ship in which at least one character is a yandere.

rpf ship: Ship about real life people in a fictional context.

starboard ship: A one-sided relationship, or a ship where one character’s affection isn’t returned.

Would ships with power imbalances fall under lock/pick ships? Also what if a ship is generally considered healthy and might even be anti-approved but you, the shipper, tend to ship it in a way that makes it a little fucked? (Eg, you headcanon one character as way younger, or you headcanon them as related, or in my preferred way of shipping which is to make one abusive towards the other). Sorry for asking so many questions, I just love the concept of having more expansive vocabulary for various different types of shipping! It can both help others find each other and help people avoid seeing what they’re not comfortable with. This is really great!

I propose scale ship for a ship that you want to signify has a significant power imbalance in some way, but you wouldn’t consider it dubcon/pick ship. Scale of course talking about the balance of the scales being tipped.

How about dimmer ship to signal that you ave made a ship darker than it is normally perceived to be by the fandom. As in using a dimmer on a light switch.
