I am so dreadfully tired of all these “"antis”“ who think that it’s charming and noble to dictate to other people what stories they’re allowed to tell and how they are and are not allowed to play make believe.

It’s not charming. It’s tedious and tiresome.

IT WAS THE SEXUAL TORTUREThere was torture in general too. A few of us read it, but Ocelot was the only one who retained any of it. We basically dragged him to the front when we saw it, like when your dog brings you a toy. “Look, look, the internet is doing it again.”He read it at least a handful of times (especially because other people would come to the front like “Adamska, what in god’s name are you reading?”) There was torture, there was sexual shit labeled separately. I think there was rape in there? It was incredibly thorough according to him, taking into account both the Japanese and American releases. They went through the trouble of either finding translations, or translating things themselves. Just for this callout post. He’s 90% sure there was something on there that amounted to “serial liar.” There was also something about him being bad queer representation (I’m half sure someone yelled “bingo” or whatever when he was reading that the first time LOL.) Some of it referenced OTHER callout posts they’d done on various characters? There was so much… We might try to find it again.

If you find it, please share it!! Omfg we are on the floor! “Serial liar”. I guess?? You could call it that?? 🤣🤣

Sounds like they went to a lot of trouble to drag a man through the mud for a lot of things people’d know about just by playing the games.

God forbid adamska do anything. 😉

I want every person involved in the debate about proship/antiship, censorship of fiction, harassment, art by traumatized and mentally ill people and what art constitutes “pedo shit” to please:

watch this documentary about Henry Darger, or at least read up about him and his fiction.

Saw the documentary many years ago around when it was released and we feel like it very much informed many of our opinions on the subject.

Wow I love to see extremely racist purity wank first thing in the morning.

“Fictional children can’t consent”. no one in fiction can consent, you dunce! Fictional characters do not have free will!

You’ve covered the important bits already but also:

Fictional children can be capable of consenting in-universe.

I could (I won’t because SQUICK but I could) write a story with a highly-gifted highly-mature ten-year-old who is at the developmental level of “our”…. say, thirty-year-olds.   That particular ten-year-old can obviously  absolutely consent in-universe.  But real ten-year-olds are not really thirty-year-olds.    If nothing else, (but again, ten-year-olds have lots of ‘else’ in reality), actual real-life ten-year-olds really doing a thing are still legally their parents’ responsibility.

1000% correct.

If ability to consent within the constructed fiction is what matters (thus conferring the ability to consent on most fictional adults)

then QED, it follows that it must be possible to write a fictional child who is capable of consent within the constructed fiction, and have that consent be just as meaningful as any fictional adult’s.

It’s all pretend. It’s all imaginary.

if I can imagine a 10 year old assassin, I can imagine I 10 year old hooker.

I don’t particularly WANT to, but it’s objectively no different.

ok so basically what antis are saying is

its not ok to write a fanfiction about disturbing things happening to someone that is not real

but it is okay for antishippers to write extremely detailed paragraphs about all the violent acts they wanna commit on proshippers (real people)???

like why are they picking and choosing??????

Apparently fiction affects reality, but actual real interactions with people don’t affect them at all, according to fancops.

Re: “fiction doesn’t affect reality” idk if there’s a word for this type of behavior, but back when this all started, antis had all kinds of arguments and bullshit takes about things like “condoning fictional child porn/partaking in ageplay + CGL is going to condition someone to get sexually aroused when exposed to childlike behavior and therefore become a pedophile” or the age old “violent media makes a person more violent and aggressive” and pro-ship arguments to these takes were “no, it doesn’t work like that, fiction doesn’t affect reality”. There was That One Post that specifically talked about Jaws and the panic in incited and pros brought up that Jaws didn’t give people a fear of sharks- it preyed upon the preexisting fear of sharks that lived in the public conscious’ head due to recent shark attacks. Over time, antis acted as though all these nuanced counter arguments to their shitty takes just boiled down “fiction doesn’t affect reality” and have twisted the context of the original counter argument, striping it of its nuance, and now you have antis acting as though they’re the ones who have believed that “fiction can affect reality because it can act as a mirror to the sociopolitical standards/themes of the time/a reflection of the author’s beliefs and obviously a proshitter’s beliefs are pedophila and incest.” Basically they took our own words, twisted them around/recontextualized them and have claimed them as their own. But “fiction doesn’t affect reality” was NOT an anti talking point at the start of shipping discourse; they argued vehemently against it and all their arguments just sounded like the Satanic Panic 2.0, with Satan being replaced with Problematic Shipping/Media.

idk if there’s a word for this type of behavior,

I’d call it “bullshit” but its also definitely “moving the goalposts.”

Typical fancop behavior.

Shockingly enough:

  • Being a pedophile is not actually a crime
  • “condoning” pedophilia is not a crime
  • pedophilia is not a synonym for child molestation, rape, or sexual assault.
  • proshipper means fiction only; the term proship does not in any way describe one’s attitude toward pedophilia or other paraphilias.
  • Writing or reading fiction in which sexual harm comes to minors, or in which minors engage in sexual activity is not a crime.
  • Writing or reading fiction in which sexual harm comes to minors, or in which minors engage in sexual activity does not make someone a pedophile.
  • sending people death threats is a crime.
