I am so dreadfully tired of all these “"antis”“ who think that it’s charming and noble to dictate to other people what stories they’re allowed to tell and how they are and are not allowed to play make believe.
It’s not charming. It’s tedious and tiresome.
There is no joy like the joy of a writer who has just figured out that a throwaway line they put into the first few paragraphs of a story is actually the key to a major plot point and possibly even the theme underlying the entire thing.

You do not have to justify your creative works to anyone.

👉 It’s okay to make and enjoy art and fiction that some other people find disturbing or objectionable.
👉 Not every piece of art and fiction is for everyone, but every piece of art and fiction is for someone.
In fiction there are two types of sinister schemes and heroic plans that succeed, and two types that fail.
Succeed:
🐭 schemes and plans that work because they are genuinely clever, meticulous, and well thought out.
🐭 schemes and plans that work because they are not as clever as their schemer thinks, but I am the author and I chose not to have any of the many possible things that could go wrong with the plan go wrong.
Fail:
🐭 schemes and plans that fail because they are not as clever as their schemer thinks and something obvious goes wrong.
🐭 schemes and plans that are genuinely clever, meticulous and well thought out, but I am the author and I chose to have something that no possible planner could have predicted go wrong at the worst possible moment.
Elusive third type of successful scheme:
A scheme so objectively pathetic, it succeeds because nobody in-universe takes it seriously enough to stop it.

I say this with my whole chest, write that daydream. Write the fic you think no one will care about. Publish the story who wrote at 2am because you had a middle of the night spark of inspiration.
No matter how insignificant or niche or obscure you think your words may be, write and post it anyways if you’re proud of it. You can’t know how people will react to it until you do so and you may just be surprised at the response you receive…

But it is not your job as a fiction writer to educate anybody.
Unless you are specifically writing material to be educational you do not have any kind of responsibility to educate your audience on what is and isn’t moral behavior.
It is not your job to educate your audience on morality.
You do not have an obligation to tell your audience that bad things are bad.
Fiction is not moral education.
