Yep. That is exactly why people hide that they’re proship. To protect themselves from unjust harassment and threats.
Too bad this fancop doesn’t get that.

Too bad this fancop doesn’t get that.
It’s absolutely the difference, anon.
If proshippers were harassing antis on the scale that antis harass proshippers, they would never shut up about it.
There would be daily callout posts.
Bad actors exist in every group. There are proshippers who have harassed antis.
But they’re in the minority.
Whereas antishipping is almost entirely based around cyberbullying people they don’t like, and its obvious.
Just check out #anti receipts
People don’t want to learn about things for themselves, they just want to be told the answer.
The human mind also makes it easy for the “scariest” answer to be equated in our brains with the “truest” answer.
So sometimes people hear an answer that sounds scary to them and assume that it must be the correct one.
I think that people should read things that challenge them.
I think they should read things that are contrary to their views.
I think that they should read things that make them uncomfortable.
I think they should read things that make them question their worldview and their experiences.
And I think that people should read these things by choice, and not be forced into it or surprised by it if they don’t want to be.
I absolutely think it is every person’s right to know what they’re going into when they read a piece of fiction, watch a movie, etc.
We tend to get triggered easily, so we often check ‘does the dog die’ or skim wikipedia for spoilers when we engage with a new piece of media that we’re not sure will be safe for us, and when we are not ready to be challenged or upset.
We watch and read a lot of upsetting media by choice, but we like to know that going in, and we like to be able to decide when we are and aren’t ready for something.
Because they mistakenly equate possessing a harmless aesthetic with being someone who does not cause harm.
People like to boil things down to their ‘simplest’ definition.
The simplest definition also is the one that lacks nuance.
Paraphilias are thoughts and feelings.
If we believe that thoughts and feelings do not equate to harm, then we must believe that paraphilias are not inherently harmful no matter what they are..
However, many people are uncomfortable with discussing thee topics due to how taboo many of them are in our purity driven society.
Proshipping specifically is about fiction, so I can’t blame anyone who is proship for just not wanting to talk about paraphilia discourse. We don’t particularly want to discuss it either.
It’s a hotbutton topic.
As for where we stand, our position continues to be as with everything else, that thoughts are not harmful, only harmful actions are harmful.
Fancops like to have it both ways.
On the one hand they consider their bullying and abuse to have no affect on people because its “just online” and its “words on a screen”.
But at the same time they insist that everybody out in the real world agrees with them and thinks proshippers are disgusting.
They’re wrong about both things.
I want to be the person I needed when I was little
So much of that sentiment drives our motivation too, anon.
You sound like a wonderful person, and I’m glad that these kids have you to rely on.
🤝 thoughts do not equate to harm.
🤝 fiction does not equate to harm.
🤝 art does not equate to harm.
🤝 only harmful actions equate to harm.
Thinking about something, enjoying thoughts about something, enjoying or creating fiction ot art about something does not mean that you will do that something.
Enjoying violent thoughts, fiction or art does not mean you will hurt someone in real life.
Enjoying sexual thoughts, fiction or art does not mean you want or will try to have that sex in real life .
Anon, I wish I had the energy for a more lengthy reply to this but literally thank you so much. 😭😭😭
(we don’t get fussed too much about pronouns too much so no need to worry about that.)
I really hope that person comes around but we can only wait and see.
