Catching your F/O as they melodramatically throw themselves into your arms, pretending to expire.

Throwing yourself into your F/O’s arms and making them catch you as you melodramatically pretend to expire.

โ€˜Sinister System and our brother accidentally rented a hentai from blockbuster once.โ€™I have a similar story where my 12 year old (at the time) brother was just starting to get into anime, so my dad bought him a DVD of an anime that he thought looked interesting. Looked innocent enough on the box art. Turned out to be hentai.Oops.

Yup! Hentai was everywhere for a while with no warnings.

And this is why the ability to tag stuff for content is so important!

Hi, anon with the sorta proship mom again, I just remembered a funny story. So when I was in highschool, my parents cancelled the cable because they were charging too much for so little(that also meant no internet so that made it difficult for other forms of entertainment and school). So how did we all entertain ourselves? Went to our local library and checked out whatever books and DVDs we wanted. For me, I checked out as much anime as I wanted and even requested some to be added to the catalog. One of those DVDs was Ouran Highschool Host Club, and I would sometimes watch it either in the living room or my room. One night I was watching it in the living room and it got to the scene where Kyoya was shirtless and Haruhi was in the same room(to those who seen this series, you know which part I’m talking about). My parents came home from the store and saw it and assumed I was watching two characters having sex…yes they thought I was watching porn out in the open in the living room where everyone could see. Side note, kinda funny how they assumed that with OHSHC, yet never caught me watching Black Lagoon pre-recorded on the DVR(when we had cable)during the day. And had one episode where the Russian mob lady was watching through in house porn to find a guy and Revy said out loud, with audible fucking in the background, “Woah, is she taking it in the ass?”In the end though, my mom didn’t stop me from picking my own series to watch. But after awkwardly explaining what was really happening in that scene, she decided she was gonna pick some out for me that would be “age appropriate.” So what series did she pick out for me? An old 90s series called Blue Gender and my god, is it shit. But it being bad isn’t what’s funny here, no. You see, she made this decision because she still wanted to make sure I was watching something age appropriate, but didn’t think to watch it herself first. Because in the very first episode, one of the characters started groping the other who was just reading out codes or some shit…and it escalated to everyone fucking each other(yes on screen sex but in a sorta soft core porn kinda way you’d see on HBO shows)almost every episode. Like my god there was an episode where everyone on a space station were having two separate orgies. I can’t even explain the plot to you here because the series was literally 30% convoluted bullshit and 70% fucking.I ended up watching the whole series(which also came with a movie that just summaries the whole series in a little over an hour)because I had nothing to watch until my next trip to the library and told my mom what was in it and she was shocked. She wasn’t pissed at me, she just went “Oh shit! I’m sorry!” After that, she never tried to find me any anime age appropriate for me ever again. But the worst part of it all, they teased me with some age gap action and didn’t even do it! Lame(jk but I think my weird ass would’ve enjoyed it a bit more if they did).Moral of the story, my parents learned the hard way that I was smart enough as a minor to know what I was supposed to look(and that I wasn’t stupid enough to watch porn out in the open)…and then I watched Boku No Pico only because I didn’t understand the meme and thought I was about to watch something along the lines of Teen Titans GO! but as anime. Only for it to be my first hentai…the 2010s we’re a trying time.

2000s anime was wild. Our partner system’s library used to have actual hentai just sitting unlabeled with all the other DVDs for checkout.

Sinister System and our brother accidentally rented a hentai from blockbuster once. Awkwarrrrd.

super late on that reply, but i didn’t know about that definition of the word (straights/the straights)! that’s interesting to learn about and i’m glad i asked lol

It’s fascinating how slang and other language drifts over time, isn’t it?

We grew up with our ex-hippie parents using the term “Straights” to refer to non drug users constantly.

Oh God, my family is not proship and they somehow don’t understand that it’s fiction. It’s difficult, so i keep most of my thoughts about fandoms to myself cause…well, people don’t make sense when they don’t understand that fictional characters…are fictional characters. They don’t exist. I literally will stop caring about the character for a few months, then go back to them, and guess what…they haven’t changed. There’s nothing new about them because they don’t fucking exist without someone creating their experiences, unlike real people who have something different going on each day.

Unfortunately, parents who mistakenly believe that thoughts and fiction equate to real world harm do exist, and they can hurt us.

I’m sorry you have such unsupportive parents, anon. We can relate.

Age Gaps And Proships – A Problem In Some Communities

Before we began, i Want to Say That this post Will contain Mentions of Ped0philia and Problematic Topics. If You Are sensitive to this Stuff, leave this post!

Alright, here’s the chapters

  1. What’s a Proship?
  2. What’s An Age Gap?
  3. When It Is Too Much?
  4. Conclusion

Chapter 1 – What’s a Proship?

A Proship Is a Ship That Is Problematic (ex: a Ship with an adult and a Child/teen, A Ship Bettwen siblings/cousins, or Ship with Problematic HCs). The people That Ship this kind of Ships are called Proshippers, and the popular fandoms are Genshin impact, Project SEKAI, Danganronpa, ETC. Proshippers are Problematic cause the normalize Ped0philia and inc3st and unluckily, They are pretty popular on apps like TikTok and Tumblr.

Chapter 2 – What’s An Age Gap?

An Age Gap Is a Trope/cliche were Two Characters (usally lovers) Who have Different ages (ex: the girl can be 14 and the boy can be 15). There Is no wrong with This Trope, however, there Is a Problem when the ages are more than 10 of diffrence. This Trope Isn’t Problematic, however, check the ages of the Characters so You can be sure It Is legal.

Chapter 3 – When It Is Too Much?

It Is too much when the Characters’s ages are Problematic and the realtionship Bettwen the Characters Is Problematic, plus, people Who support this unluckily exist in this great world and seems That no One Is there to stop them.

Chapter 4 – Conclusion

In the end, don’t Ship Proships, and if you see someone proshipping, don’t Send them HATE, Just report them.

That is not the correct definition of proship.

Proship does not describe a type of ship it describes a type of shipper.

Proship means Pro (in favor of) shipping. It refers to people who don’t care what other people ship, and think it’s okay for anyone to ship whatever they want.

The word you are looking for is comship, which means complicated ship.

Here’s a glossary of shipping terms that you can consult so you can make sure you’re blacklisting and avoiding the types of ships you don’t want to see.

Have a great day!

Hi, uh. I tend to be neutral to pro in the ~shipscourse~ but there is one ship that I am very aggressively against because it involves me and someone who harmed me in my source (Iโ€™m a fictive with memories). I will complain about and insult the ship in private with friends but I have never posted anything outwardly hateful about it to anyone who does ship it. Still, I cannot help but feel negatively toward those who do ship this pairing and think badly of them because of it. I really hope this doesnโ€™t make me a hypocrite.

I don’t think that makes you a hypocrite, anon.

People, all people, are allowed to have ships they don’t like. You’re allowed to complain about it an insult it in private.

As long as you’re not being outwardly hostile to the people who ship it, you’re not doing anything wrong.

We’re in the same boat as you are. There are people who have hurt us in our kin lives that we just can’t forgive or accept. We don’t like to see art or fic of them. It makes us a little ill.

Remember, its not what you think about people that matters, its about your actions.

All the judgemental and nasty thoughts in the world won’t hurt a person until you actually directly act on them.

Many antis forget that not every proshipper is in their 20s, that many are in fact older and parents themselves, and those of us who are (which I am) don’t care what fiction our kids like, if they are enjoying themselves and not hurting anyone (including themselves) then we are perfectly content and happy for them.

The problem again and again comes back to fancops not understanding, and not wanting to understand, that people have experiences that are different from their own.

They want everyone to be “normal”, as in “like them.”
