Hey so uh completely unrelated to anything I post ever but I was scrolling through Random Shit™ and I know no one cares about my thoughts on this thought I’d say something important.

You can be Anti-Proship and Anti-Anti at the same time.

Just because I think shipping incest is gross, that doesn’t mean I think shipping a pair of childhood friends counts as incest.

Just because I think shipping abuse is awful, that doesn’t mean I think antagonist/protagonist ships make you a bad person.

Just because I think shipping minor/adult ships is disgusting, that doesn’t mean I’ll be coming for your head for drawing wholesome art of two child characters having an innocent puppy-love moment.

Just because drawing this kind of stuff isn’t technically illegal, that doesn’t mean it’s not gross and harmful.

Just because someone draws something gross and harmful, that doesn’t give you the right to threaten them.

Just because fiction affects reality more than you’d think, that doesn’t mean one off-color drawing is going to make someone the next Albert Fish.

Just because I think Proshippers are fucked-up, that doesn’t mean Antis are any better.

I literally said IN MY ORIGINAL POST that someone posting something gross doesn’t give you the right to harass them.

I never said ANYWHERE that it was okay to harass people for ships.

This is exactly what I mean when I say both sides are fucked-up. Proship/anti anti: you don’t believe in harassing people over the fiction they create, and you block people that make fiction that upsets you instead of trying to censor or punish them.

Antiship: you believe some fiction is inherently harmful and should never be created, and you harass or try to stop people from creating fiction you think is bad.

Get the “replies to antis” shit out of your tags, you smug fuck. I have said multiple times I am not an anti. You don’t have to be one or the other. What you have going on is cult mentality, creating an “us” and a “them”, and believing that anyone that’s not “us” must be “them”.

My *entire point* is that *both sides* are fucking garbage. Once again, I never said that harassment is okay. That stuff is for immature dweebs who have never seen the sun in their lives. HOWEVER, that doesn’t make proshippers any less immoral.

You can think someone is immoral without sending death-threats or suibait, and the fact that you’re so insistent that me thinking p*dophilia is gross automatically means I must want you dead says a *lot* more about you than it does about you.

No DNI and this is tagged as #proship so I assume you’re looking for interaction.

Comparing fictional content about fake characters to real child abuse or other crimes detracts from the severity of those actual crimes and harms victims, many of whom are the same people posting said fictional content.

Fiction isn’t brainwashing and doesn’t cause otherwise healthy and moral people to act like criminals or abusers.

Restricting the rights and agency of people to share content regarding dark topics restricts the ability for victims to talk about their abuse, and allows abusers to keep their victims controlled and isolated in their experiences.

Likewise suggestions that people involved with dark content should harm themselves (as you suggest in your tag) is abusive language that perpetuates violence toward victims, and spreads negativity. The proshipper you tell to hurt themselves probably isn’t going to, but the closeted proshipper who is a friend of your will see it and know you want to harm them.

As a SA and grooming victim.

Fiction DOES affect reality. SpongeBob literally thought me how to tie my shoes.

If a kid see a proshipper shipping an adult with a child and romanticising r@pe (typical proshitter thing LMAO) they will think its normal and will become an easy victim.

Proshippers are using our trauma to openly fantasies abt dark stuff. Or to “cope” then say that fiction doesn’t affect reality.

Also my friends agree with me. Most of them are SA victims too. So we understand our point.

My friend, I am also an SA victim. Fiction taught me that what I was experiencing was abuse, and not normal.

My parents, who tried to censor all the entertainment I experienced, did not want me to see that message.

Censorship hurts everyone because it is never ‘good’ people who are in charge of censoring things. It is always authoritarian abusers who want to control people.

Censorship is not about protection, it’s about control.

The Proshippers who post properly tagged fiction about dark topics that you can easily avoid by blocking are not your enemy.

They are not you abuser.

With some things, you just can’t be on the fence about them. Proship/antiship discourse is one of those things. You can’t be okay with harassing people over fiction and against it at the same time.

You can’t look at people thinking real human beings should be murdered or sexually assaulted for reading or writing spicy fan fiction and think, “Well, they have a point”.

I do hate fandom sometimes because I’m always scared of liking the wrong thing and getting harassed or having the wrong headcanon. If I like something with flaws it makes me bad and icky.

This is so sad to read.

You have to understand that antishipping is the exact reason you are afraid of being harassed in fandom.

Saying it’s okay to harass and bully ANY people for their ships and opinions leads to being harassed and bullied for your ships and opinions.

You have to protect the rights of everyone or you end up making everyone unsafe.
