This blog is going to be a year old next month.

I, Toko (😼🔪) started the blog when I wanted to get the self shipping community.

Self shipping, and self inserts–before they had a separate community, and then were just an element of fandom– were how I started in fandom, back when I was a teen in the early 2000s.

I didn’t know the self shipping community was a thing until around 2 years ago.

Around 2 years ago, while I had been blogging a lot about one of my kintypes, I ran into a guy who self shipped with that kintype of mine.

I got a big crush on him through his s/i and his self ship content with my kintype.

I followed him for months.

I promised myself I’d only interact with him anonymously, because I didn’t want to make things weird for either of us.

But through anon, yeah, I started flirting with him a bit.

Then one day he updated to say he had covid.

He never updated again after that.

His penultimate post was just a reblog, about how much online connections can mean to someone.

So I kinda got into the self shipping community to fill the void that he left behind. To honor his memory.

I barely knew him, and he barely knew me.

But I loved him in a way.

I want to put more love in the world. To fill the empty spaces we all touch.

I kinda want to remind everyone that the term “MAP” as in “minor-attracted person” was created as a psyop on 4chan by radical right-wingers in order to make the LGBTQ+ community look bad

It surprises me that people don’t actually know this and I wanted to share

Oh. I wasn’t aware of that, lol. I don’t really know much about the coining of MAP, I know it exists thanks to 4chan but I was lead to believe it started off as “clovergender” (for a trolling campaign) but then MAP was coined here on tumblr by someone who got the idea from the satire clovergender label.

I heard that’s also just another reason people treat the MAP label like an absolute joke. “wow, your ‘identify’ is based on a fake flag made by 4chan trolls. how pathetic is that.”

I’m not really sure what to believe though, lol. I feel like MAP is just one of those terms where it’s really hard or near impossible to find the exact first time it was coined. sort of like proship I guess, but I know anti anti was used first.

I hate to share this, but I have a pretty clear memory of MAP definitely starting before Tumblr existed, and starting on 4chan.

Because our abusive 4channer boyfriend at the time absolutely loved the label.

We broke up with him in large part because we found out he had a whole folder of ‘childrens swimsuit models’ on his hardrive.

This was in 2010.

Are you close with any of the UDG characters other than Komaru? Also, did you have Kameko in your canon? I unironically hope she was okay, poor teeny bug. :(

Obviously I’m close with Byakuya <3 Also we became very close with Monaca and the warriors of hope after the whole damned mess got figured out and cleaned up. Nagisa and Kotoko are currently system members of ours.

I answered the Kameko ask here just now. I assume you’re the one who asked it. Please don’t ask about it again, it kind of makes me feel like I’m being made fun of.

How do you feel about Kameko, Toko and Jack’s pet stink bug from DRAE/UDG?

The game exaggerates it quite a bit for comedic effect. We never had a specific bug we was obsessed with or something, but we were so lonely for a while that we, yes, would name insects and pests that lived in our room while we were in our abusive mothers’ house.
