One of my most defining self shipping moments happened when I was in senior year of high school in 2004.
I had picture of Alfred Molina as Doc Ock from the then-upcoming Spider-Man 2 movie pasted on the front of my school planner. (Students at my school often displayed their celebrity crushes this way.)
A girl in my class looked at the picture and asked me why he was ‘so old and ugly’.
Anyway, Otto and my 20 year anniversary is coming up next year.
Some positivity for self shippers with ‘young’ F/Os.
💖 There is nothing wrong with self shipping with a character who is portrayed in their media as being under 18 years old.
💖 Even if you are an adult.
💖 No matter how old you are.
💖 You never have to stop liking a character just because of their age, or your age.
💖 It’s okay to age up your F/O if it makes you more comfortable, but you don’t have to.
💖 It’s okay to age down your S/I if it makes you more comfortable, but you don’t have to.
💖 A fictional character is a fictional character.
💖 There is no fictional character who it is wrong for you to self ship with.
💞 There is no wrong way to self ship.
💞 It is perfectly fine to ship yourself with any character that you like.
💞 Your F/Os love you no matter what.

(feel free to ignore if this is too vent-y) do you guys have any advice for times when you start doubting your f/o actually returns your feelings? feeling that way about one of my Resident Evil f/os rn and doubt is a horrible beast
I start to doubt my f/o returns my feelings when I’m feeling self loathing for myself. If I feel like my f/o doesn’t love me, it’s because I’m not feeling love for myself.
I promise you it is easier for others to love you than for you to love yourself.
Your f/o loves you. Your f/o, no matter who they are, would be upset, maybe even angry to find out that you were doubting their love for you.
Your f/o loves you when no one else loves you. Your f/o loves you when you can’t love yourself.
There are a lot of Resident Evil characters in sinister and our partner system, and I don’t know who your f/o is, but I guarantee you that if your f/o is anything like any of the people here they are sending you all their love and affection, and are deeply frustrated that you can’t feel it. I know your f/o wants to be there for you.
