Hajime’s lips brushed against the unbroken skin along Fuyuhiko’s stomach. There wasn’t a scar there, not once they’d woken up from the dream…the nightmare…that was Jabberwock Island and into the cold reality of a post-despair world.
But there was the memory of one. A long slit across the stomach inflicted after the loss of Peko. An apology that nearly took Fuyuhiko from them after a trial already steeped in tragedy.
But now, with the Neo World Program’s truth laid bare, dead friends and lovers were back among them and illusions of scars were gone, replaced with the all too real scars garnered during the real world’s tragedy and their place as the Ultimate Despair.
Hajime let his lips trace across Fuyuhiko’s stomach, across the memory of how they’d survived to the end. The young mobster grumbled something about how ‘sappy’ he was being, but made no move to stop him.
They both knew the value of a memory, no matter it’s subjective reality, and were content…for the moment to lay in the quiet, reliving them through one another’s touch.
