I’m new to the Diabolik Lovers fandom on tumblr, I’ve avoided it for awhile because I heard how toxic it is. I wonder how much of that is due to antis now though? I genuinely don’t understand how anybody can sum up the demographic of DL as being for “masochists” unless they’re so naive and unable to think outside of their own mindset that they don’t realize Diabolik Lovers is a CNC fantasy lol. Maybe it is wrestling with shame? I mean, I’ve been there but I didn’t take it out on everybody else.

I think that fancops wrestle with feelings of shame a lot.

One might suppose that one reason they harass proshippers is because we represent a lack of the shame they feel for their own urges.

Diabolik lovers has some of the most secretly shitty antis, at least they did years ago when I was touching it and actively trying to be in the fandom in 2018they were the type to do secret behind your back sharing information with each other while pretending to be nice to you before the wave hit /: the stalking and back stabbing was so bad and all to defend the vampires.a group I had hangged out with for a short time was completely anti the main character considering her the main problem which is so bizarre it’s the most broken mess of logic and the main reason I could never get fooled by antism as it grew after that point. those people and those experiences are one traumatizing mess of fucked up i don’t even think I got the words to have explained any of it wellplease do finish the media it so gooooood huge fan of the stage play myself mostly but i just really love stage shows < 3

That’s so fascinating, anon. It’s so strange when antis get attached to media that should by rights be the exact kind of thing they’re so stubbornly against.

I hesitate to say it, but maybe they bully proshippers because they’re wrestling with feelings and urges that they feel ashamed of, and proshippers represent the fulfilment of those urges…

I was introduced to Diabolik lovers through, I believe, an anime, and then found myself poking at the game. I might see if I still have my save file..

How does Diabolik Lovers have antis? How did I just see someone say with their whole chest not to sexualize the vampires??? For fucking real? Because “they’re minors!”?

For those of you who don’t know, the Diabolik games have porn in them. They’re otome games with fucking, where the romantic leads straight up abuse the heroine and have canonically murdered hundreds innocents at least.

I can’t believe I straight up just saw someone say “Don’t sexualize the the poor innocent hundreds of years old murderous rapist vampires from the porn game because they’re MINORS” even disregarding the fact they are canonically hundreds of years old “but they still go to highschool!” because it’s the easiest way to shove a bunch of characters into a building for plot, dipshit, but even disregarding that, how do you say, with your whole chest, “don’t sexualize porn! D<” are you fucking STUPID?!

Go outside, go to a doctor, and let scientists ponder how you manage to walk, talk, type, read and communicate WITHOUT A FUCKING BRAIN.

Apparently the sadomasochistic vibes of the series didn’t chase them off somehow. Like, I don’t like how fucked up it gets either, but I also didn’t chose to be here, and sunk cost fallacy, I’ve spent so much time fucking in the DL trenches I’m just stuck, but at least I admit the canon is a shit show and don’t try to force anyone else to live by my headcanons and AUs.

Enjoy it if you continue playing, lord knows I don’t have the strength for that.

Yeah, it seems like it’s “a lot” in some ways. Definitely not the kind of media that usually catches on in the west, that’s for sure.

I don’t know that I’ll return to it, but it has such a beautiful aesthetic to it that it’s hard not to want to.
