Sabretooth & Mystique

The original (90s canon) meeting between Sabretooth and Mystique plays out as a romance in a cold war spy thriller.

Sabretooth is a US government operative, a secret spec ops soldier in “Team X”, along with Logan and a few other notable members.

Mystique is a spy impersonating a figure that Sabretooth has been ordered to exfiltrate.  The two of them escape their pursuit in a stolen sports car convertible, and literally crash their way through the Berlin wall.

They spend a few days holed up in a Berlin safehouse, carrying out a torrid affair where Sabretooth even seems to contemplate leaving the spy business behind for her.

Only for Mystique to have to wind up ditching the fake identity, leaving Sabretooth believing that the woman he fell for is dead and gone.

Who is that angel being held by the person ? (I don’t know much about comics ~)

His name is Warren Worthington the third, and he"s called Angel.

He’s one of the original X-Men from the 60s.

He’s the son of a wealthy industrialist who is ashamed of him and rejects him because he’s a mutant, and tries to hide him and make him not a mutant. There is a lot of ‘gay conversion camp’ style narrative and imagery associated with Warren.

Warren also feels a lot of shame and self loathing for not fitting in.

Despite being beautiful and angelic, from a wealthy and well known family, he is still branded a freak and an outcast by society for the crime of being a mutant.

We love Warren Worthington!!💕

ok you said Marvel so how about Spideypool for the kiss prompt thing with #7 (to shut them up)?

Wade had been following him around the city for blocks. Peter wasn’t even sure how the hell he was keeping up. Every time he swung by a window or over a rooftop, Wade was there, usually waving. And of course, running his mouth.

Peter was starting to feel like he understood why some people thought he was annoying. He was quippy, sure, a fast taller, but he didn’t compare to Deadpool.

Peter was perched currently on a large, looking gargoyle overlooking the city, trying to take a moment to regroup, and come up with a plan.

And Wade. Would not. Stop talking.

That’s when Peter had a bad idea.

Deadpool loved movies, and cliches.

And what could be more cliche than the idea Peter had in mind. He’d basically have to play along, right?

It was worth a shot at least.

“Hey, DP?” Spidey said, pulling up the bottom of his mask.

“Yeah, SM?” –Peter immediately decided he hated that, but he was committed now.

“C’mere.”

He grabbed Wade’s mask in a quick motion and pulled it up, immediately pressing a kiss to the other man’s mouth.

Wade kissed back.

To late, Peter had a sudden realization. Oh shit, he’s into it.

Oh well.

Amazing Spider-Man #43

Peter Parker and Mary Jane’s first date.

On their first date:

💖 Mary Jane constantly uses the most up to date, cutting edge hippy slang. Hippies were genuinely considered dangerous counter culture at the time. Violent and sexual! Mary Jane is being portrayed as ultra modern.

💖 “I never thought a tiger who wore his hair so short could be so dreamy!”

💖 She doesn’t usually go for “straight” (normie) guys. Loves that Pete has a motorcycle.

💖 Independent and vivacious, taking drama lessons. Tries to get shy old stick in the mud Peter to dance with her in the living room. Aunt May tried to set them up because she thinks Peter needs to lighten up!

💖 Sees that there’s a supervillain on the rampage, and wants Peter to take her to go see it as part of their date! MJ is bold, adventurous. and kind of a weirdo! <3

💖 Handles (mild) rejection well and has her own life going on. When Peter says he isn’t available for a date the next day, she just moves on because she has tons of cool shit going on in her life!

💖 Calls Pete slang pet names of the time constantly. Tiger, Dad, Son…

Mary Jane is basically the original ‘manic pixie dream girl’ but in the best way possible.

It’s funny. Until I saw your posts about Mary Jane, I kinda just… Believed that she was annoying? Like, I have no real opinions cuz I’m not big into comics, but I always used to see people shitting on MJ, saying she was annoying and shit, and I just. kinda internalized that. I feel bad now, she seems cool. Internalized misogyny is terrible, and I’m never listening to dudebros about anything ever again.

Honestly, anon, this is really common, and not surprising, especially with the way the raimi films reduce and change Mary Jane’s characterization. No offense to the writers, and no offense to the actress but that’s basically not the MJ I know from the comics, or from any of the cartoons.

You probably don’t know this, but in the comics, the original backstory of the relationship is that Aunt May is trying to set Peter up on a blind date with her best friend’s niece.

Peter assumes that aunt May’s best friend’s niece is not going to be someone he wants to date (assumes she will be prudish, boring, etc, basically worries aunt May is setting him up with a dud.)

He spends LITERAL YEARS of the comic avoiding meeting Mary Jane. Literally avoiding it. Dodging the issue, and never seeing her.

And then when he finally meets her?

She’s a vivacious, feminist (in the 70s) knockout, who’s directly coded as a sexual swinger and just all around gorgeous person.

She’s wonderful. She’s amazing.

She and Peter have the most vibrant, ridiculous relationship imaginable.

Mary Jane ABSOLUTELY wears the pants in the relationship. Its’ practically canon that 70s Peter is getting pegged on the regular.

I will be pulling up some panels of wonderful, amazing Mary Jane.
