ask-derse:

Hi, my name’s Jasmine.

I never met the previous caretaker of this blog, Celia Warden, the Maid of Blood, but from reading her old entries, it seems like we have a lot in common. I’m pretty sure she was in a completely different session than me and my friends. I learned about this blog and got the log in from what I guess is her final message, that I found in paradox space.

She asked the reader not to share the full contents of that message with her blog, but to let her readers know that she, and the people she love are okay, and found a happy ending (so much as there ever is an ending).

Celia gave permission to the person who found her message to take over her blog if they wanted, and since I kinda do, that’s what I’m going to be doing.

I know that my Derse is a little different to Ceilia’s and I know that I am for sure a lot different from Celia herself, but we both love Derse, and the Dersites, so I am going to keep the spirit of her blog alive.

There are a lot of messages still in the inbox from seven years ago, and I’m gonna start answering those questions, even though I know the people who asked them may or may not be long gone.

[The Draconian Dignitary meets the Mage of Rage for the first time in what will one day be a long and involved history. Rated G, content warnings: smoking, implied future relationship with a currently young character.] – 🎀💖

The strange little girl follows the Draconian Dignitary as he leaves his office, her stockinged feet slip-sliding a little on the slick marble stones of the palace floor. She doesn’t like flying, though, so she just pads after him the best that she can.

DD takes a puff off his cigarette and glances back at her as they pass out of the palace corridors and into the courtyard outside the city streets. She had been sitting in his office all day. Agents were not allowed to harm the dreamers while they were on Derse; it was an ancient, and potent taboo. 

So he really hadn’t known what to do with her, since she didn’t seem to want to leave. Eventually he’d handed her some old paperwork and a few pens, and that seemed to make her happy. He’d wound up watching her draw on the backs of them, some really fine absurd doodles that reminded him of the things Jack drew when he was bored.

The dreamer didn’t talk much, which was fine enough with DD, though it made him sure he was being spied on. Though, as the day wore on, he started to be less and less sure she was a spy, and wonder more and more if perhaps the dreamer was a little stupid.

That seemed like the likeliest reason why she was following him with a big smile on her face, humming under her breath.

He sighs as he makes his way to the cab, blowing a hot breath of cigarette smoke out from his lungs. He holds the cab door open for the dreamer. There’s no call to be rude after all.

The Mage of Rage hesitates at the door of the cab. “Where are we going?” she asks in a small voice.

“I’m going to the casino,” DD says with more patience than he feels. “Are you coming?”

“Oh! That sounds like fun!” The Mage’s hesitation dissolves, and she hops up into the cab, squirming a little to get in.

DD sighs and steps in afterwards.It’s going to be a long evening.

realizing the same people are going to interact with or avoid my S/I midnight crew content whether its written or drawn, and writing takes like 10% of the effort for 300% of the result for us, so there is no reason to push myself to draw.

maybe when there’s money I’ll get a really expensive commission of all of us, but there’s no reason to draw when I won’t like the result anyway. :T

🎀💖 answering re: midnight crew again.

💀 Why is your F/O considered a villain? Do they consider themselves a villain?

They’re considered villainous by the dersites both for being government officials (inherently villainous!! hehe) and for being responsible for the organized crime on derse.

They’re considered villainous by the players/by sburb itself by nature of being the designated ‘bad guys’ of the game– the people meant to stop the players from winning.

As for if they think of themselves as villains, given that they’re criminals I think they think of themselves as charming rogues 😉 I agre with them!!

😈 What’s the worst villainous act that your F/O has committed?

It’s murder. They’ve definitely all committed some murders that maybe were um, not necessary people to kill. And maybe a lot more violent than necessary. Its okay… there were… circumstances… :c

🎀💖 answering about the midnight crew again!

🎭 Do you want to try to change/reform your F/O, or do you want to support them? Or something else?

I wouldn’t say I want to change any of them, but I do want to help keep them from spiraling out and following their worst impulses. Timelines can get pretty bad when there’s no one around to help stabilize the bunch of them… So, I want to support them, but I sure as heck don’t want to make them worse!

😇 Has your F/O ever done something heroic, or directly against their villainous nature? What caused it, and how did you both feel about it?

They’re big softies deep down (or not so deep down in ❤’s case). I’ve seen Jack ‘lose’ or ‘not bother with’ plenty of tickets and judgements that he didn’t like, or even just let prisoners go if he felt like it. Same for the rest of the crew.

12. How do other characters generally feel about your s/i?

It depends a lot on the characters. Her friends obviously really love her, and find her precious and charming (teehee!)

But because she directly gets in the way of prophecy and the way things are ‘supposed’ to go there are a lot of people who are suspicious of her, or outright treat her as an enemy or a threat.

💍 What’s your ideal relationship to your F/O as a villain? Partner? Henchman? Rival? Something else? What does your F/O want you to be to them? Is there a difference in your feelings here?

Hmmm, this is honestly a really hard question for me! I think the guys kind of see me as ‘the gang’s girlfriend’ and I’m not unhappy with that! I know I’ll never exactly be “just one of the gang” but I don’t think I’d want that either, I kind of like having special status! ^^;

🐶 Does your F/O pursue you initially, or do you pursue your F/O?

I was definitely the one who initiated! They didn’t know what to do with me at first! 😉

🤗 Was there ever a time that your F/O committed a villainous act on your behalf, or in your name? What did you think of that? If it hasn’t happened, would you want it?

Honestly all of them have probably beaten somebody up for me before ^^;; I used to get a lot of hate and dirty looks on Derse because I was a human. It’s honestly really charming and sexy of them to be so protective of me! 💕
