He didn’t look like much when I met him. An overconfident city boy,s sent out into the boonies for making too much noise around the higher ups. Cute. A little obnoxious. Eager.

He reminded me of a kid, not in a way I hated, but in a way that weighed on my atrophied paternal instincts. I already had one kid I wasn’t taking good enough care of, and here I was, saddled with another as my partner.

I told myself I was going to try try not to get attached. Blew that one.

🤗 Write about the time you and your villain F/O first admitted your care for one another.

It took ages and ages. Neither of us was an expressive man who talked about his feelings. Affection passed between us without comment for years. ‘Come over for dinner’. ‘You can borrow my jacket’. ‘Don’t give me that look’.

I don’t know when we admitted it. Maybe some night, laying in the dark next to each other, thinking about the twisted mess of our lives. Maybe we admitted it in the darkness, like it wasn’t real without the lights on.

Like we wouldn’t have to acknowledge it in the morning.

Dojima hissed as Adachi wiped the cuts on his face down with a cotton ball swabbed in alcohol.

Adachi was smiling broadly, despite his partner’s bitter grumbling and sour face.

“Aw come on now, it’ll hurt more if it gets infected right?”

“I can do it myself you know,” Dojima protested. But he let Adachi keep at it.
