I’m trying to imagine antis seeing the original nesting ground of creepypasta. 4chan’s /x/ board. Even in 2008-2010 when creepypasta was just getting going on the board that place was toxic as hell.
And you just had to like, avoid the nasty people there if you wanted to have fun with the cool content.
You can’t be comfortable, or a comforting presence if you’re making yourself small and trying to appeal to as many people as you possibly can. Shaving off the parts you think people will dislike to present an ideal version of yourself that you think they’ll tolerate.
Being comfortable is taking up space, making noises that are weird and unholy. Where you aren’t expected to conform to a standard. It’s making compliments without worrying if what you’re complimenting is weird. It’s a space that allows you to be wrong without blame.
After all, even in the scenario that first comes to MY mind when I say “comfort” has imperfections. Reading a book under the covers wouldn’t be the same without the rain or snow. Or a fireplace. The rain and snow is cold, and the fireplace smells acrid and is smokey. But it’s comforting.
It’s not that I mind minors in fandom. Really, I don’t.
It’s just when they ignore the multiple warnings that I put on things or lie about their age to see things they shouldn’t that pisses me off. Especially when they throw a screaming hissy fit about the dove really being dead or start telling anyone over the age of 18 that they need to get out of fandom.
Darling, we built this place. And if you don’t have the reading comprehension to understand that trigger warnings are there for a reason, maybe you need to get off the internet and go do your homework.
Can I further add that I dislike this new wave of fandom culture that younger teens brought with them when they joined fandom?
I dislike “n0nc0n” and “unalive.” I dislike that cyberstalking has become the expectation to participate in fandom. I dislike the casual disregard for privacy. I dislike how sensitive everyone is to content they dislike and makes them uncomfortable. I dislike that nobody takes the time to lurk anymore.
When I say I dislike the teens in fandom, I’m referring to these cultures and attitudes. My teen mutuals are cool, else I’d have blocked them already.
It’s so funny to see people who complain “oh you can’t do that in your selfships and that!” and decide what is good and what is bad.
Like, no one actually cares about your opinion. In my situation, it actualy encourages me to do problematic things in my selfships, so thank you everyone who complains about that! It makes me want to do more problematic shit in my selfships ♡ be mad and cry about it more ♡
Oh shit, worm? Like. Rip to people who don’t want to make an account for whatever reason but this is fucking great. Izzy Hater Anon eat your heart out.
