You are responsible for enforcing your own boundaries. This includes DNIs.
A boundary or DNI is not a magic spell that controls the behavior of other people when they’re around you.
A boundary is basically a sign saying what your behavior will be if someone violates your boundaries. Your behavior is that you will not interact with a person who violates your boundaries.
There will be two types of people who interact with your boundaries.
People who respect your boundaries: these people will see your boundaries and not cross them because they are being polite.
People who do not respect your boundaries: these people will violate your boundaries. And when they do it is up to you to enforce those boundaries by refusing to interact with those people.
Boundaries do not control other people’s behavior. They describe what behavior you will tolerate in your presence.
When someone violates your boundaries you remove them from your presence.
I also think we need to stop framing this as if following a DNI is a non-action, unless the DNI is actually in the person’s posts. Bios don’t show up on people’s dash and I am not going to look at the bio of each and every person who makes a post that I want to reblog just because I don’t get angry when people write kinky sex stuff. If you (antis) don’t like that, just block me.
