regarding that recent anon and the screenshot of the anti who was calling someone a “tif” and yaoi a “straight female fetish”, is anybody else uncomfortable with how often people who are so violently against fetishes or fanfiction will say things like “kiddie porn”, “kiddie diddlers”, “chomos”, and other slang terms, including the way they say “map” and “pedo” in a pejorative slang way (ie tone, where it doesn’t apply, etc)? like, they refuse to use actual terminology appropriately (csem, csa, cocsa, etc) and call non-pedophiles (ie people who just like anime girls) “pedos”, and then they say some professional psychologist who says “map”, because in psychology a paraphilia is more specific, is “using cutesy terminology”. meanwhile as a survivor of severe abuse, terms like “kiddie diddler” for my abusers feels a lot worse than some psychologist using neutral, but explicitly descriptive, terms (“minor attracted” doesn’t obfuscate that they’re attracted to minors, while “kiddie diddler” and “kiddie porn” definitely obfuscate “child sexual abuse” and “child sexual abuse materials” respectively). this is also an issue with people who advocate for the death penalty for abusers too- I’ve heard them say “kiddie diddler” more than I’ve ever heard somebody who takes a more compassionate stance, as they usually use language much more respectful to the victim. it makes it really hard to believe they’re actually coming at this from a stance of genuine compassion, or even disgust, because it’s a playground insult that clearly isn’t going to make victims feel comfortable. if you’re advocating to literally kill people, that’s supposed to be a pretty grave conversation, not the time for the sorts of things I, despite being a very crude person with a very dark sense of gallows humour about the abuse I went through, have only tended to say after a bottle of jäger- even the pope song by tim minchin isn’t on my “coping with my abuse” style playlists, as it uses the term “kiddie fucker” iirc. all of these antis constantly using this obfuscating and childish turn of phrase for serious situations makes it really hard to believe they’re the side who genuinely takes any of this stuff seriously at all- or at least it would if I was at all inclined to believe that in the first place ig.
